I love it when weddings tick all the boxes making them a truly memorable and one-of-a-kind occasion. Ella + Mike’s gorgeous lake cottage wedding at Georgian Bay, Ontario was it! For a cottage wedding, you couldn’t wish for a more picture-perfect setting complete with serene natural beauty, lush windswept trees, and the calming presence of water. Top it off with personal touches and you’ve got a winning combo right there. Everything about Ella + Mike’s wedding was so heartfelt, honest, fun, and welcoming, and I couldn’t be happier about being able to capture every second of it.

The beautiful Georgian Bay lakeside cottage, dotted with rich marine history of the region, was chosen not just for the stunning backdrop. The groom’s family uses every occasion to go up there with friends always being welcome too, so it really was the perfect place to celebrate Ella + Mike’s wedding with all of their loved ones there. Prior to the ceremony, the guys enjoyed cheeky celebratory shots, as Mike’s dad proudly displayed his vast collection of Scotch whisky (even I got a taste of the fancy scotch, all in the name of love). With traditional wedding no-no’s aside, the bridesmaids were all dressed in white, each showing off their personalities, each rocking a different outfit. Now that’s how you do personal touches, I love it!

The intimate lakefront ceremony incorporated traditional Jewish wedding elements like getting married under a chuppah. Furthermore, they even did the hora that I love so much - isn’t it the most energetic, fun, and playful addition to a wedding? Knowing Ella + Mike and how they’re all about endless laughter and having a good time, it felt very true to their personalities. The tented reception was so sweet and intimate, it was all about celebrating togetherness. Before the dancing commenced, I took Ella + Mike out by the lake for a moment of reconnecting, slowing down, and having that very special moment together as the sun dipped below the horizon. And, boy, was this a good idea - once on the dance floor, everyone was unstoppable. Showing off their best moves, everyone danced the night away to well-loved 80s and 90s tunes as the most unbelievably gorgeous starlit sky revealed itself outside.
