How To Do a Lantern Release at Your Wedding

I LOVED being a part of this sky lantern release at Kristen & Siya's Wedding!! Of course I didn't light one and release it since I was the one photographing it, but I was THERE along with everyone. The energy in the air was amazing. I could FEEL that everyone felt so special and overjoyed that Kristen & Siya surprised them with this. There was a sense of unity & excitement among everyone. People were helping one another, lending lighters, and it was beautiful to see couples and families doing this together. Everyone's soul's were beaming :)

Tips How To Do a Lantern Release at Your Wedding reception

- Purchase Sky Lanterns for your guests

- MAKE SURE TO choose an area outdoors that has no tall trees nearby or electrical cables running above your heads!

- At Kristen & Siya's wedding, one got stuck in a tree!! This being a very free spirited, boho, hippie wedding, a tarzan like guest ran to the tree, jumped on the trunk clinging on with his bare feet and hands and shoook the tree with all his might. He actually let the lantern loose and it safely flew away!! - haha. So yea, that was a close call!

- Have the DJ announce which exit for the guests to take and that each person can grab 1 lantern & each couple/family can take 1 lighter (have them sitting in a bowl of some sort).

- Also, MAKE SURE that the DJ let's everyone know that once everyone has their lantern lit and "puffed up" ready to fly up (this should take about 2-4 minutes after lighting the lantern), he will start a countdown so that everyone can release the lanterns ALL AT THE SAME TIME. It's a lot more magical that way, and everyone's energy feels united! It's amazing!

- Don't forget to remind everyone to make a wish and keep it close to their hearts! :)
